World Health Day is celebrated on April 7, to raise awareness about health problems and promote overall wellbeing of the people. This universal health campaign was established by the World Health Organisation (WHO). Marking the 75th anniversary of the WHO, the theme of World Health Day 2023 is “Health for All”.
This World Health Day, our personal trainer Lakaei shares his easy-to-implement top tips for a healthier lifestyle. In addition to supporting our members and hotel guests to achieve their fitness goals through bespoke personal training sessions and regimes, Lakaei runs a number of weekly classes at The Lanesborough Club & Spa, including Morning Shred, HIIT, Core & Strength and Run Club.
- Get moving
“It is recommended that we achieve at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise and 2 strength-based sessions a week. This will benefit you greatly in regards to your physiology, mental well-being and aesthetics.”
- Incooperate a stretch routine into your daily routine
“Personally, I like to do this in the evenings to aid relaxation before bed - and I add an element of mindfulness by counting the stretches by breaths, rather than time.”
- Eat for nutrition not taste
“A simple mindset shift like this can guide you to making better choices in regards to the food you eat.”
- Do a nice gesture for someone you know or even a less fortunate stranger
“Helping others releases happy hormones in the giver. Plus, you may even make someone else’s day.”
- Sometimes less is more
“If you have been working super hard in the gym and not feeling up for a session, take a guilt free day off. Adaptations and growth actually happen during times of rest so you would actually being doing your progress a favour.”
